Presently, I am a Consultant, in between contracts. My last contract (1st) lasted 15 months, and my responsibilities consisted of Daily remote or onsite coding for contracted Health Systems ED and Clinics OP Ancillary for Facility include Bone Density, CT, LAB, Mammogram, MRI, Radiology, and Ultrasound.
Prior to that assignment, I was a FTE with a major Health system in Fl., and my responsibilities for that position consisted of daily face to face education for a Group of 50 ED Providers (Adult & Pediatrics) and 2 Pulmonary Groups for ICU I provided feedback to physicians on revenue opportunities, documentation and compliance standards via daily face to face education for all Providers. I also assisted in the initial protocol implementation of the ED program simultaneously implementing the EPIC system. In addition, I was also delegated to assist in training and auditing of ED coding staff. The end result upon leaving this position for a Consultant role was that my team had improved ED billing and provider RVU’s over 22% in the first year via Physician Education.
With the prior clearinghouse position, I was hired as an entry level coder and fast-tracked to a Supervisory role. In that role, I provided leadership, auditing, and administrative support to a team of 7 remote coders that were responsible for a group of 12 Hospitals ED’s in the St. Louis market, with a daily ED chart count of @ 1400. In addition, I assisted in the total support of all other Coding Supervisors within the company. It was a complete team effort.
