My name is Michelle Govan. I am 32 years old. I live in Santa Rosa, CA. I am a current Certified Professional Coder, as well as a Certified Coding Specialist. I am currently in the process of finishing up the program to obtain an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, and will be sitting for the RHIT as soon as possible after completion. I am a very fast learner, and am able to learn independently. I successfully taught myself how to use an encouder. I currently work at Sutter Health as an HIM clerk and have been in this position for two years. I overcome adversity with ease. A week after starting my current position a massive wildfire ripped through my town. The office that I work in was relocated temporarily and the person responsible for training me was out of work due to the fire. I easily adapted to the major chaos in the department that I worked in during the temporary relocation and thrived despite having had only a few days of training. I also have an educational background in medical assisting. I was previously a Certified Medical Assistant.
