Function in the autonomous role of a research nurse under the direction of several principal investigators for the largest multi-specialty group practice in Southwest Louisiana. Coordinate and execute all aspects of industry sponsored trials from phase 2 through phase 4 in the following therapeutic areas: Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Endocrinology, Podiatry, Ear, Nose & Throat, Internal Medicine, and Oncology.

Financial Management: Negotiate budgets with sponsor representatives; generate invoices for startups, milestones, per patient visits, administrative fees, and study related expenses; reconcile payments received; process patient stipends and reimbursements in alignment with the Clinical Trial Agreement; review and assign medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services performed by cardiology and orthopaedic physicians as it relates to research.
Clinical: Screen patient records, databases, and physician referral summaries, for identification of prospective candidates for research protocols. Coordinate and implement procedures to collect data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests, and other sources; administer informed consent process; collect and prepare blood and urine samples for shipment, and laboratory analysis; perform ECGs; maintain drug/device receiving and dispensing accountability. Complete data entry into case report forms or pre-established computer programmed formats, ensuring appropriate source documentation, and resolve data queries. Ensure compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; identify problems and/or inconsistencies; monitor patients’ progress to include documentation and reporting of adverse events; recommend corrective action as appropriate. Develop and create forms, source documents, questionnaires, subject recruitment and retention plans. Performed quality assurance audits, pre-monitor research charts, and medical records.
