I am a highly organized professional with an extended background as an Administrative Assistant for over 5 years at an orthopedic office. During this time, I learned my way around a doctor’s office and how to flourish in a diverse and fast paced work environment. While working as an Administrative Assistant, I prepared and reviewed doctors’ notes regarding patient visits to ensure all information was available to schedule surgeries. In the process of doing this, I became very proficient with medical terminologies, office procedures, and hospital procedures, along with navigating Electronic Medical Record systems. I familiarized myself with how the medical coding and billing aspect of a physician’s office works.
Throughout the Coding Program I learned how to navigate a 3m coder. I also coded over 300 medical charts in my last semester, which gave me the training and knowledge on how to properly abstract diagnosis and procedure codes. I have also gained knowledge on universal medical billing practices, health insurance industries, and the rules and regulations of HIPAA.
I will be testing for my National Exam to become a Certified Coder within the next few months.
While waiting to take this exam I am looking apply my skills and training in a real-time medical coding and billing environment. I am a very focused and driven individual looking for an opportunity to make a positive difference to your company.
