Medical Coder

Eisner Health is seeking an experienced Coder with the expertise necessary to complete chart reviews, physician education, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of coding rules and regulations. The Coder will provide overall coding expertise as well as administrative and technical oversight to ensure successful integration of Eisner Health initiatives.
Position Description:
1. Performs on-going chart reviews and abstracts diagnosis codes
2. Develop an understanding of current billing practices in provider offices to ensure that
diagnosis and CPT codes are submitted accordingly
3. Documents results/findings from chart reviews and provides feedback to management,
providers, and office staff
4. Provides training and education to network of providers on how to improve their risk
adjustment knowledge as well as provide coding updates related to Risk Adjustment
5. Builds positive relationships with providers by providing coding assistance when necessary.
6. Responsible for administrative duties such as planning, scheduling of chart reviews, obtaining
medical records, and provider training and education.
7. Assists in coordinating management activities with other departments in Eisner Health
including but not limited to Finance, Billing, Clinical, Referrals, and QI.
8. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops;
reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in
professional societies
9. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
10. Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management or related field,
preferred
2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting
2 years’ experience in coding and medical record chart review
Coding Certification
Active CCS, CCS-P, or CPC credential
Experience with outpatient coding
Familiar with HCC (Hierarchical Condition Categories) Risk Adjustment and HEDIS (Healthcare
Effectiveness Data and Information Set) measures
Background in supporting risk adjustment management activities and clinical informatics
Experience with Risk Adjustment Data Validation
CRC credential
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Maintain knowledge in the latest coding guidelines (official through CMS) as well as AHA
Coding Clinic guidance
