Job Summary:
The Coding Team Leader will supervise up to 12 coders and assist the Coding Services Manager with daily activities to support Coding Services Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise a team of coders for the coding projects and campaigns assigned
• Monitor and maintain assigned coders’ daily trackers and weekly schedules including PTO approvals and payroll related activities
• Monitor daily coder productivity and accuracy
• Assist Coding Services Supervisor with billing and invoice approvals and reconciliations for assigned coders where applicable
• Assist Coding Services Manager in completing and providing weekly coder report cards
• Assist in providing feedback and education to assigned coders based upon quality review
• Assist with coding of medical records as needed
• Handle other related duties as required or assigned
• Understands and agrees to role-specific information, security access and responsibilities.
• Ensures safety and confidentiality of data and systems by adhering to the organization’s information security policies.
• Reads, understands and agrees to security policies and completes all annual security and compliance training.
Required Knowledge:
• Current core coding credential through AHIMA or AAPC (RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, etc.) and the AAPC CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder) coding certification are both required.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel
• Project Management
• Risk Adjustment experience
Required Skills:
• Strong organizational skills
• Project management competency
• Technical savvy with high level of competence in Microsoft products
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar leadership role
• Minimum of 3 years recent coding experience with at least 1 of those years in Risk Adjustment coding
Required Education:
• High School Diploma
• Completion of an accredited medical coding program is highly desired, but not required
